How NDLON Transformed Response with Relief Compass

The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) has long been a dedicated force in advocating for worker rights, stepping up in times of crisis to support vulnerable communities. When the Los Angeles Wildfires devastated neighborhoods, NDLON quickly mobilized to provide aid. However, with no centralized system, they initially relied on pen-and-paper tracking, which made it challenging to efficiently manage resource distribution, monitor inventory, and assess impact.

Challenge

As NDLON’s efforts grew, so did the complexity of their operations. The team needed a scalable, technology-driven solution to:

  • Streamline tracking of distributed resources
  • Improve coordination among volunteers and partner organizations
  • Gather real-time data on aid requests and fulfillment

Solution

On January 16, NDLON was introduced to Relief Compass, a cutting-edge platform designed to optimize disaster relief coordination. By adopting digital tracking, NDLON was able to replace manual processes with a seamless, real-time management system that improved efficiency and transparency.

Impact

The results were immediate and transformative, in less than 7 days of responding:

  • 3,834 orders completed – enabling faster, more organized aid distribution
  • 13,396 people helped – ensuring critical resources reached those in need
  • 2,291 homes assessed – giving visibility into damage levels and helping coordinate aid accordingly.

With real-time reporting and data visualization, NDLON could track the items most needed and adjust their distribution strategy accordingly.

Looking Ahead

NDLON’s adoption of Relief Compass has not only transformed their operations but also empowered them to scale their efforts for future disaster response initiatives. By leveraging data-driven decision-making, they are now better equipped to provide timely, targeted relief to those who need it most.

Relief Compass has completely changed the way we manage disaster relief. What used to take hours of manual tracking now happens in real-time, allowing us to focus on what truly matters—helping people.”
